Program for Better Vision is the title of a book by Martin Sussman. He is also the founder of the Cambridge Institute for Better Vision. He explains that there are a number of things you can do to improve vision if you are now suffering from eye strain, headaches or other visual problems. These do not entail complicated procedures but rather can be done quite simply during the day while using your eyes in normal activities.
Most visual problems he asserts are a result of stress and strain. Relieving the causes for such stress will improve coordination of the brain and eyes.
He outlines the ‘Top 10 Habits for Better Vision’. One of which has to do with the nourishment that comes from natural sunlight. Walking outside without wearing your glasses or contact lenses for fifteen minutes during the day allows your eyes to take in the natural sunlight and will aid in keeping your eyes relaxed.
Another helpful habit would be to close your eyes placing your palms over your eyes and as you do use your imagination to visualize a very delightful scene. You can do this for several seconds and then do it again but this time take your hands down, keep your eyes closed and face the sunlight. Spend three or four minutes a day doing this. You will notice your eyes will feel refreshed and sharper.
He also points out in his book that it is essential to utilize ‘full spectrum’ indoor lighting. It gives you the best possible full range of natural sunlight there is. The book details his eight-week program. He claims those who do these eye exercises regularly will more than likely not develop eye problems and, in fact, will improve their eyesight. He says they will also avoid the complications that some have encountered who elected to have eye surgery.
